I really, really enjoyed reading this book. Ok, by this time it's probably obvious that I'm a bit of a historical fiction junkie.. but I'm not exaggerating abt Moran's latest work. I remember learning abt the French Revolution in history class - and let me just tell you that my teacher left ALL the good parts out. Gruesome and gory, like any good revolution novel would be, some parts of the book are disgustingly good. Yet, Moran creates a balance with some romance between Marie and Henri (my latest book crush!). Sadly, the end of the book was shocking and I can't say I liked it much. Overall though, it was a great book about an ambitious young woman who lets nothing get in her way. And she survives to tell the tale.
